ALIENSANE, A VIRTUAL REALITY ENDLESS SHOOTER

In Cualit we are always on the lookout for innovation, interested in working with the last trends. We know it’s important to do so in every area of the agency, such as marketing, design, technology, and gaming.

In this search for the latest global trends, we found out that Virtual Reality was both interesting and challenging for us.

To give a brief introduction on how Virtual Reality works, we can say that instead of viewing a screen in front of them, users are immersed and able to interact with 3D worlds. By simulating as many senses as possible, such as vision, hearing, touch, even smell, the computer is transformed into a portal to this artificial world.

Speaking specifically about Virtual Reality Games, which was what intrigued us the most, these give each user an amazing experience, completely changing the concept of video games as we knew it. They let us interact with the virtual world, using our whole body and senses, instead of using only a joystick, therefore helping us stimulate the development of creativity and other capacities.

This led us to the decision of making a project of our own, in which the only restriction was innovating and having fun in the process. This is how Aliensane was born, a virtual reality endless shooter. A game that originally had two objectives, be a fun experience for those who play it and be an impulse for our Gaming Studios Team, that challenged them to develop a Virtual Reality video game.

About the design process of the Aliensane characters, the first thing we did was analyze and specify in a document each character, with their respective characteristics and abilities.

From this document, we generated a concept art that fitted each one. Taking the concept as an input, we model the different characters in 3D using ZBrush, which are then animated using 3D Max.

Aliensane is implemented using Unity (leading game engine in the gaming world). In its first version is released for the Oculus platform, and now we are adapting the new version to release it for Nintendo. Also, we are constantly looking to improve it, so taking Aliensane to the different events in which we participated, helped us collect feedback from the players, and put this information into the project in order to enhance it.

New 3D characters, more realistic animations, new features and variations in the game mode are some of the additions for the second version.
